Successful puja celebration

• The first year puja celebrations were held at the Sai Baba Temple premises in R.T.Nagar,Bangalore
• The durga idol was created by craftsman who came down from Kumartuli,Kolkata at the Bengali Association,Ulsoor building.
• Purohit and dhakwala were brought from kolkata.
• Delicious prasad was served in the afternoon to all visitors on all three days of puja.
• Various extra curricular activities were also organized.

Durga Idol 2007 Puja Celebration

The puja celebration started from 17/10/2007 (Maha Shasti) and went on till 21st October 2007 (Bijoya Dasami). In the next few posts I shall upload more pictures with details for all the other events that unfolded during the Durga Puja celebrations.

How it all started?

Poila Baisak Celebration gathering April 2007:A few bengali families residing in R.T.Nagar area decided to start celebrating durga puja in R.T.Nagar area from the year 2007. The idea just came out as a normal thought process. The biggest challenge was first to gather a dozen of like minded people and form an association. After that a series of meetings were conducted at various locations where fund raising strategy was discussed,venue selection and other planning activities was also undertaken. A core comittee of around 30 members was formed and each member contributed a membership fee to accumulate the initial funding expense for the Durga Puja 2007 celebrations.
